Pre-Bankruptcy Credit Counseling

You must receive budget and credit counseling from an approved agency within 180 days prior to filing for bankruptcy. CC Advising provides the required counseling through an easy-to-use online course.  The cost of the online course is $9.76 per person. It is easy to sign up for credit counseling online and once you start, the program can be paused for you to finish later on. Follow the instructions below to complete your required course:

Step 1: Go to www.ccadvising.com and click any of the buttons that say “pre-filing bankruptcy counseling”.
Step 2: Sign up for an account by entering your personal information. You do not need a code, and the Court District is New York – Western Court District. You must put your personal email and phone number when asked for contact information.
Step 3: After reading through, click “continue” to accept the disclaimer.
Step 4: Now you are ready to begin.                                                                                                                  Step 5: You should receive a certificate of counseling within 24 hours after you complete the course. Forward the certificate to the Clinic.

The easiest way to receive guidance from CC Advising is via email. Send inquiries to
